Pareeksha: a pioneering Theatre group founded in 1978 performing
regularly to date. Pareeksha has introduced the plays of Vijay
Tendulkar, Badal Sircar, Brecht, Priestley and Pinter in Tamil besides
the Tamil works of Indira Parthasarathi, Na.Muthusami, Jeyanthan,

Badal Sircar: The founder of the street and open space Theatre as a
movement in India. He introduced the new concept of third Theatre, and
spread the principle of Theatre for conscientisation. His plays
continue to be regularly performed in several Indian languages.

Muniyan: Badal Sircar’s Bhoma is Muniyan in Tamil. Muniyan is the
village. we are Muniyan. without Muniyan we dont exist. Then what is
the city ? Muniyans driven out by the villages are in the city. the
city grows into a Megapolis rushing towards nuclear energy and
weapons. which will prevail ? nuke or love ? This play through the
chorus form mirrors our life to us. Pareeksha’s version has
transformed the play to the contemporary Tamil milieu.
