[28]  முதிய கயாமுடன்  வா, ஞானிகள்  பேசட்டும்.

ஒன்று மட்டும் உறுதி,   ஓடுகிறது வாழ்க்கை

மற்றவை பொய்யாகும் என்பதும் உறுதியே

ஒருமுறை உதிர்ந்த பூ  நிரந்தரமாய்க் கருகிடும்.

[28]  Oh, come with old Khayyam, and leave the Wise
To talk; one thing is certain, that Life flies; 
One thing is certain, and the Rest is Lies; 
The Flower that once has blown forever dies

[29]  அடிக்கடி வாலிபத்தில் ஆர்வமாய்  வாதிப்பேன்

அதை பற்றித் தான்  மேதையர், புனித ரோடு;

தருக்கம் மீண்டும்  மீண்டும் புரிந்தும் எப்போதும்

திரும்பத் திரும்ப வந்தேன் புகுந்த வாசல் வழியே !

[29]  Myself when young did eagerly frequent
Doctor and Saint, and heard great Argument
About it and about; but evermore
Came out by the same Door as in I went.

[30]  ஞான விதைகளை விதைத்தேன் அவருடன், 

மெய்வருந்தி உழைத்து அவற்றைப் பயிரிட்டேன்;

கிடைத்த அறுவடை எனக்கிது மட்டும் தான்:

நீராக வந்தேன், காற்றாக மறைந்தேன் நான்.

And with my own hand labour’d it to grow:
And this was all the Harvest that I reap’d – 
‘I came like Water and like Wind I go.’
