Sangam announces an International Drawing and Essay Writing Competition in Tamil

Dear Sangam Members and well-wishers

Ilankai Tamil Sangam America in a joint effort with several Tamil cultural organizations worldwide, pleased to announce an international drawing and essay writing competition in Tamil. This competition is conducted in conjunction with the UNESCO’s International mother language day and Sangam’s fortieth anniversary milestone this year. This competition will be held in United States, Australia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and Ilankai. Winners will be selected among the diaspora participants (international awards) and also among the participants from Ilankai (Ilankai Awards). Deadline for this competition is June 20th 2017. Since this is our first initiative outside of the United States, we are limiting the participant age from 12 to 18 . In the future we will add other age groups and additional countries. Please note, Sangam’s annual United States based drawing and essay writing competition in English on Tamil Arts , Culture and History will take place as per schedule in September. We encourage the young Tamil Americans to take the initiative and participate in these competitions. We hope these multiple initiatives from Sangam on the cultural front provide a platform for the young Tamil Americans to enhance their learning in Tamil arts, language and music.
